Welcome to the UCLan Through the Ages project blog, follow us for the latest updates on the project, including recent trips and events, photos, student activities and an insight into the behind the scenes of a heritage project!
What is UCLan Through the Ages?
The project started through an expression of interest from students to understand the place where they were studying and to feel connected to their adopted home. Following a successful funding bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund Young Roots programme, UCLan Students’ Union officially launched an exciting 18 month-long project called ‘UCLan Through the Ages’ in February 2016.
The aim of the project is to make in the invisible history of UCLan and Preston visible to students. By engaging them in heritage events and activities that will explore UCLan’s history and connection to the city, the local community and the wider Lancashire area.
What do we offer?
From temperance tea parties, historical campus tours, museum trips to geocaching, students will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of fun, free and interesting events/activities. Check out our Upcoming Events page to find out what we have coming up!
The project also offers students the opportunity to become project volunteers and to undertake training in areas such as digitisation, event planning/management and local history research. Interested in student volunteering? Visit our Become a Volunteer! page for more information.
